Isolationism
"A national policy of abstaining from political or economic relations with other countries."
- after WW1
- the US wanted to be less involved in world affairs
- Kellogg-Briand Pact 1928
- Hoover - "America was not the world-police"
Summary: The U.S wanted to become more involved in itself rather than other foreign affairs, because after WW1 and the great depression they were at an all time low. They could not afford to face another World War so they excluded themselves from things like the League of Nations. America also felt that being involved with Europe would cause war and dispute, so they ended their ties with them. They also created new immigration laws during those times and which created a little tension between foreign countries and America.
